Is your air compressor not providing enough pressure? Learn about the common causes and solutions to this problem in our guide.
If you’re experiencing insufficient air compressor pressure, there could be a number of reasons why. It could be due to a clogged air filter, a malfunctioning pressure switch, or even a leak in the air hose. To fix the issue, you may need to clean or replace the air filter, repair or replace the pressure switch, or locate and fix any leaks in the air hose. It’s important to address the issue promptly to ensure your air compressor is functioning properly and efficiently.
Causes of insufficient air pressure in air compressor:
● Malfunction of pressure gauge.
● Loose or slipping drive belt between the air compressor and electric motor, or a broken pipe or leaking joint between the air compressor and air tank.
● Excessive sediment buildup in the oil-water separator or air filter causing blockage.
● Loose exhaust valve plate or weak or broken spring, loose cylinder head bolts, sand holes, or damaged cylinder head gasket causing air leakage.
● Excessive wear of cylinder liner, piston, and piston ring causing air leakage.

Repair methods:
● Check the pressure gauge. If it is not functioning properly, repair or replace it.
● Check the drive belt for looseness and inspect all pipes and joints between the air compressor, air tank and control valve for damage or leaks.
● Check the oil-water separator, air filter and pipes for excessive sediment buildup and clean if necessary.
● Further inspect the exhaust valve plate, spring, cylinder head bolts, sand holes, and cylinder head gasket. Replace or repair any damaged parts.
● Check the cylinder liner, piston and piston ring for excessive wear and adjust the installation direction of the unloading valve arrow accordingly.
