How to Replace an Oil Filter on Your Air Compressor

Keep your air compressor running smoothly by replacing the oil filter regularly. This step-by-step guide will show you how to do it yourself!

If you want to keep your air compressor in top condition, it’s important to replace the oil filter regularly. This simple maintenance task can help prevent damage to your compressor and ensure it runs smoothly for years to come. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to replace your air compressor’s oil filter yourself.

The Step-by-Step Guide

Here is a step-by-step guide for replacing your oil filter:

● Unscrew the oil filter and dispose of it properly;

● Thoroughly clean the filter housing and clear any blockages in the before and after pressure differential holes;

● Check the performance of the differential pressure transmitter using a machine;

● Apply a layer of oil onto the sealing ring of the new filter before installation;

● When installing the filter, rotate it until it comes into contact with the sealing gasket, and then manually tighten it by one-third of a turn.

● After turning on the machine, perform a check to ensure there are no leaks.

Precautions

● It is important to replace the oil filter element after it has reached its designed lifespan, which is typically around 3000 hours. If the environment in which the air compressor is operating is particularly poor, the usage time should be shortened.

● It is recommended to replace the oil filter immediately after the blockage alarm goes off within the designed service life, as the blockage alarm setting value for the oil filter is usually between 1.0-1.4 bar.

● Insufficient oil return after blockage leads to high exhaust temperature, which shortens the service life of the oil filter.

● Insufficient lubrication of the main engine due to insufficient oil return after blockage leads to a serious reduction in the service life of the main engine. If the filter is damaged and unfiltered oil containing a large amount of metal particles and impurities enters the main engine, it can cause damage to the main engine. Therefore, it is important to take precautions and replace the oil filter in a timely manner.
