Introduction to the Air receiver

Air receivers, also known as compressed air storage tanks, are essential components in compressed air systems. They store compressed air, dampen pulsations, and provide surge capacity to support peak demand. Widely used in manufacturing, automotive workshops, and industrial plants, air receivers improve system efficiency and protect compressors from short cycling.

Application of Air Receiver

Air Receiver for Manufacturing Plants

An air receiver stores compressed air to smooth out pressure swings from intermittent machine use, ensuring stable operation of pneumatic tools and automated production lines.

Air Receiver for Automotive Repair Shops

An air receiver provides instant surge capacity for impact wrenches, tire inflators, and spray guns, allowing multiple tools to operate simultaneously without pressure drop.

Air Receiver for Food Processing Facilities

An air receiver helps maintain clean, dry air storage for packaging and conveying equipment, reducing moisture-related contamination and meeting hygiene standards.

Air Receiver for Pharmaceutical Production

An air receiver ensures continuous compressed air supply for critical processes like tablet coating and blister packaging, preventing production interruptions.

FAQ

Yes, an air receiver is highly recommended for most compressed air systems. Without an air receiver, compressors cycle more frequently, leading to higher energy use and premature wear. An air receiver stabilizes pressure and provides storage for peak demands.

The size of an air receiver depends on your compressor output and peak air consumption. A common rule is 3–5 gallons per CFM for reciprocating compressors. For rotary screw systems, an air receiver with 5–10 gallons per CFM is often used.

Yes, an air receiver can be installed outdoors if it is properly protected. Choose an air receiver with weather-resistant coating and consider adding insulation or a small shelter to prevent freezing of condensate drains.

An air receiver should be drained daily or automatically. If your air receiver has an auto drain, check it weekly. Manual draining of an air receiver is recommended at the end of each shift to prevent rust and reduced storage volume.
